The human body has more than 400 joints that are used on a daily basis. These play a crucial role in the mobility of each individual, it is advisable to take care of them. With age, the body produces less and less cartilage and the first sensations of discomfort are felt. Fortunately, there are several natural treatments available to soothe these joint pains.
What causes joint pain?
Joint pain is characterized by discomfort, stiffness, swelling, cracking or blockages in joints such as the knee, hip or ankle... This phenomenon is not unusual and occurs naturally with age, between 40 and 50 years. Indeed, as time goes by, the body manufactures less and less cartilage, which makes the joints more fragile and sensitive. On the other hand, sportsmen and women often experience this type of problem at an early age because joint pain can also develop following a shock, an accident, a bad fall or a sprain, for example. Similarly, professionals working in manual jobs or in factories, who perform very repetitive movements on an assembly line every day, often experience joint pain because these movements wear out the cartilage. In addition to age, wear and tear and accidents, certain illnesses such as gout, influenza or chikungunya also generate this type of problem.
In the case of the elderly, overweight individuals or athletes, the wear and tear of cartilage often leads to the presence of osteoarthritis. This is a degeneration of the joints, which progressively attacks the cartilage and causes more or less severe joint pain. Osteoarthritis mainly affects the hips, vertebrae and knees. It is also possible that these pains come from an inflammation of the joint, which often results in the presence of arthritis. The latter manifests itself by acute pain sensations in the same areas as the osteoarthritis but also in the wrists, elbows, hands, ankles and shoulders. If we do not yet know how to cure osteoarthritis, we can find different natural treatments to reduce joint pain.
Natural treatments to soothe joint pain:
Joint pain can have several origins and affect anyone. If the feeling of pain is recurrent, accompanied by redness, fever and fatigue, it is essential to consult a doctor. In case of osteoarthritis or arthritis, several natural remedies allow to soothe the sensations of discomfort or pain.
- Meadowsweet or ginger infusions
Some plants naturally have powerful anti-inflammatory properties, and ginger is one of the best known. Consumed as an infusion, it is a very good way to soothe joint pain related to arthritis. Similarly, meadowsweet teas are particularly effective. This plant has a real anti-inflammatory and analgesic potential. It helps, among other things, to actively alleviate the suffering caused by rheumatism, arthritis or osteoarthritis. To make this type of infusions remains very simple, it is enough to make boil water, in which we plunge either slices of ginger, or leaves of meadowsweet. It is recommended to let it infuse for about fifteen minutes and to drink at least four cups a day for a proven effectiveness.
- Turmeric, the anti-inflammatory spice
This spice, used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine, also contains valuable anti-inflammatory properties. It contains vitamins C, E, B3 and B6 as well as curcumin, which gives it many other properties: antioxidant, neuroprotective and perhaps even antitumor, according to some researchers. It thus seems ideal to relieve the sufferings related to osteoarthritis and also to calm stiffness and other functional discomforts. Several scientific studies, including a randomized trial conducted in 2020, seem to confirm these beneficial effects and attest that the consumption of turmeric would significantly reduce the sensations of knee pain of subjects who ingested it for 12 weeks. Turmeric can be consumed in various ways, the most common being through food supplements. In our range of food supplements, Living Gold contains this spice in its ingredients!
- Massages with clay or essential oils
In addition to infusions of meadowsweet, ginger and turmeric, therapeutic massages can provide great relief to painful areas. These gestures not only help relieve pain, but also unblock blockages. Applying a remedy directly to the skin ensures that the body absorbs it directly, and there are two natural treatments for joint pain that can be administered in this way: clay, either red or green, and lemon eucalyptus essential oil. Clay has analgesic properties that are well known to the general public. Massaging a sore joint with a paste of red or green clay for two or three hours produces real relief. This preparation is quite simple to make, as it is enough to mix the raw clay with warm water.
On the other hand, lemon eucalyptus essential oil is also very effective in relieving joint pain, due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Very concentrated, no more than 4 drops should be applied on the skin. Ideally, it should be diluted in water or another oil before application. One method is to mix 10 drops of lemon eucalyptus oil with a teaspoon of vegetable oil such as macadamia oil. In our range of wellness products we offer this time a very pure Aromatic Complex which is also very effective for local applications.
