More and more people are looking for ecological alternatives in their daily lives. Doing your own laundry is a simple, economical and environmentally friendly solution. Homemade detergents use natural ingredients unlike commercial detergents which often contain harmful chemicals. In this article, we explain how to create your own homemade laundry with soap shavings!
Why make your own laundry? What are the advantages?
Making your own laundry detergent allows you to control the different ingredients that make it up. Many industrial detergents contain chemical agents, preservatives, bleaching agents, perfumes and solvents that can cause skin irritations or allergies. Most of these ingredients are not biodegradable and pollute the environment.
6 steps to make your homemade laundry detergent:
A homemade detergent is a detergent that solves the problems mentioned above. Here are 6 simple steps to concoct your own washing powder with our solid soap the Authentic Ghassoul:
- Step 1: Take your Ecosystem soap and grate it. You can grate 30g to make about 1L of laundry.
- Step 2: Heat 1L water until it boils and turn down the heat.
- Step 3: Add the 30g of grated soap.
- Step 4: Let the soap shavings melt, stirring regularly with a wooden spoon.
- Step 5: Let the mixture cool, then add 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar.
- Step 6: Optional: You can add a little fragrance by adding 5-10 drops of our Aromatic Complex. A sweet smell of eucalyptus & aloe vera will come to perfume your laundry.
Now fill your empty bottle and let it sit overnight. Before each use, remember to shake your detergent before using it. This detergent is 100% biodegradable, so it should be used within 3 months of manufacture.
